Artist Vince Veazey has been featured in the Fort Worth Weekly and is known for his word phrase artwork. Vince is William Campbell’s head framer and art installer. It’s nice to see him show off his artist skills with pieces that say, “I Only Buy Dead Artists” and “Smaller Pieces Sell Better”. These phrases come from comments he overhears clients and visitors say. I think this is such clever series!

Vince just opened a new show at The Basement Lounge. Now if you don’t know him or his work, I promise someone you know does. Plenty of accomplished artists showed up for Vince’s opening: Nancy Lamb, Carol Ivey, Ariel Davis & even Bill and Pam Campbell showed up to support Vince!

Drinks were flowing and with the lighting dimmed, we all caught up and took in Vince’s clever art pieces. One in particular was titled “ROI” and had the phrase, “The Price Is The Most Interesting Thing About This Painting” ~ the is $2,500,000 (price negotiable).

In a recent post, Vince said, “My good buddy Juan, who is a collector, said “I only bury dead artists” and it got me thinking about how art becomes an interesting investment, and within that, what is the role of the artist? The more I think about how to talk about my work, it mostly comes down to that question…what is the role of the artist? I don’t have a clear answer, but it’s probably best to keep creating and not die”.

Vince is a kind and supportive friend within the art community. He often makes the effort to support artists around town, so it was great to be able to return the favor. I was excited to go home with a custom coffee mug that has one of my all time favorite sayings from one of his pieces, “It Doesn’t Have To Be All Matchy Matchy”.

Details: The Basement Lounge: 6323 Camp Bowie Blvd – show will be up through October ’22.
