Twice a year, our city celebrates “Gallery Night”, a marvelous mixture of open house and unguided cultural tour of some of the best galleries and visual arts that Fort Worth has on offer.  The autumnal session, aptly named “Fall Gallery Night” is happening on Saturday, September 10th this year. Many of the galleries open their doors early for the benefit of art enthusiasts and avid collectors as well as the ‘just curious’ and the window shoppers.

Whatever category you fall into, grab a map that shows the participating galleries, and make some dinner plans for whenever you think you’ll need a break from the sensory overload you are sure to experience. One word of advice, don’t drink too much at dinner, because most of the galleries and museums will have plenty of adult beverages for you to enjoy!

  1. The Modern (3200 Darnell Street): Women Painting Women. I can’t emphasize enough how fabulous this show is. As the show’s title implies, this is a masterfully curated collection of women who have painted women. There is a diverse and wildly eclectic range of art styles present for everyone’s tastes.
  2. William Campbell Gallery (217 Foch Street & 4935 Byers Avenue): If you love art, or you just came to love Fort Worth icons Bill and Pam Campbell, you probably already know that the new proprietors of WCG have opened up a 2nd location on Foch St. and it’s just fabulous! Both locations will be presenting new shows for Fall Gallery Night.
  3. Artspace 111 (111 Hampton St): This gallery will be presenting Ender Martos, a Texas-Venezuelan artist that creates colorful 3D artwork. In addition, there will be a group show, featuring the works of several artists that I have no doubt will be incredible.
  4. Arts Fort Worth (1300 Gendy Street): The newly renovated interior galleries at the FW Community Arts Center will feature artists from around the community and beyond. The programming and curation of shows is just phenomenal! You’ll be pleased you stopped in!
  5. SiNaCa Studios (1013 West Magnolia Ave.): This glass art gallery is so impressive, you’ll want to take a special trip back! The glass blowing studio will be open throughout the evening, with bench seating so that you can observe live demonstrations. The work that I’ve seen come out of this space is absolutely incredible!
  6. Love Texas Art (501 Houston Street): The newest art gallery in Sundance Square! They will be presenting BLINDERS by Jacob Lovett. This young man is very talented, and is a rising star to be sure.  For a little extra background on Jacob and his work, check out my recent Spotlight on him on ArtsyScoop.com. Come see and support his western themed oil paintings.

Finally, wrap your gallery tour up at:

  1. Amon Carter’s Party on the Porch (6-10pm): The doors will be open, so come and peruse the current exhibits – Sargent, Whistler, and Venetian Glass. There will be live music, art-making activities and country music by Brent Cobb to wind up your art-filled adventure.

If you see me out on the gallery tour, grab a glass and we’ll do a Cheers to Art!  Enjoy your evening & I’ll see you out there.
